Argentina is very well known for possessing the most southern geographical point in the face of the earth. Also known as la Tierra del Fuego (the Land of Fire), this most southern part of Latin America is, in fact, an archipelago, where one of the world’s most beautiful and mysterious places can be found: Ushuaia, likewise referred to as El Fin del Mundo (World’s End) because it is the southernmost city on the planet. If you are planning to travel to Argentina in the winter, you absolutely must visit Ushuaia.
Winter in Ushuaia
Living at the End of the World isn’t always easy, as the temperature in winter in Ushuaia can drop down to -28ºC (-18ºF). Mostly the locals live off fishing, cultivation of natural gas and oil, sheep farming, and most of all ecotourism. But although many people think that it is too cold to visit this area during the season, Ushuaia is still known to offer many uncommon touristic activities to do during the winter, which therefore helps its inhabitants survive through the cold.
