Top 5 Spots For Leather Shopping in Buenos Aires
When it comes to shopping in Buenos Aires, leather should be first on your list. Argentine leather is some of the best in the world and there are numerous independent brands, designers and artisans offering unique, made in BA pieces that you won’t find anywhere else in the world. Since the choice is overwhelming and you only have so much time, I’ll give you a helping hand with my top five leather shops in Buenos Aires.
Humawaca
Humawaca’s beautifully crafted leather purses are unique pieces of arm candy. They come in all sorts of fabulous color combinations and modern, architectural designs, from chic, ball-shaped evening bags to totes with removable inner bags and polka-dot passport wallets. The local Argentine brand also carry a small line of lightweight leather and fur vests and jackets.
Tip: Don’t forget to ask for your Global Blue Tax Free forms to claim your tax back at the airport.

Calma Chicha
[caption id="attachment_9755" align="aligncenter" width="428"]If you really want to embrace all things cow, this is an emporium for furry cowhide leather products. You can pick up one of those traditional cowhide rugs (that comes in 3 different sizes), or go for one of their colorful patchwork designs. You’ll also find cowhide cushion covers, belts, table runners, notebook covers and a range of leather purses and tote bags, some embellished with metallic paint. Since every cowhide is different, you’ll never find the same splotchy pattern twice.

Trebbia

The unassuming shoe makers pride themselves on their handmade leather footwear that balances quality with just the right amount of style. You won’t find any giant platforms here (which is the footwear of choice around the Palermo streets) but rather more modest, understated styles, including the classic brogue or Chelsea boot (for men and women).
Loyola 531, Villa Crespo
Serendipya

Their collection features a range of shopping totes, backpacks, clutches, and a very smart looking baby bag for the fashion conscious mom.
