Rio de Janeiro Review: Tijuca Rain Forest Jeep Tour
The Tijuca Rain Forest Jeep Tour enables you to enjoy Rio in a whole different way. As you’re travelling by jeep, you’re essentially out in the open, breathing the fresh air and enjoying a cool, crisp breeze.
The jeep tour begins in the morning or the afternoon, depending on your preferences, when you will be picked up from your hotel in a jeep big enough for ten people, however it’s possible to travel with a minimum of just three passengers. A professional tour guide sits with you in the back and talks you through the various different parts of the tour, telling you all you need to know about the area and its fascinating history.
The jeep tour passes through various different neighbourhoods before making its way up to the Tijuca forest, where you have the opportunity to stop at regular intervals to admire the stunning scenery and take plenty of snaps.
From here, you go hiking through the forest for approximately an hour, which is great fun as you get to clamber through the woodland and dip your toes in the clear streams.
There are also some breath-taking views of the nature and wildlife in the area, such as the cascading waterfalls and all the tropical plants and animals that inhabit the forest.
Once you complete the trail, you’ll be taken to the other side of the mountain, passing through São Conrado beach and a number of Rio’s other magnificent beaches, before the driver drops you back off at your hotel.
Not only is this an exceptional tour but, as is the case for many tours in Rio, it’s great value for money too! Moreover, all the tour guides are multilingual, so whether you want to practice your Portugese, or have everything explained to you in English, the choice is yours.
Overall, the Tijuca Rain Forest Jeep Tour is a fantastic way to see the city, the forest and the beaches of Rio. The tour guides are really friendly and informative, but undoubtedly the highlight of the tour is the amazing view you get from the open jeep, along with the sensation of the breeze flowing through your hair; a truly wonderful sensation. The Tijuca Rain Forest Tour is certainly one we’d recommend to anyone planning to visit Rio.
