spring day buenos aires
As you may know, here in the southern hemisphere, every September 21st we celebrate the Día de la Primavera or Spring Day in Buenos Aires as it is the beginning of the spring season but here in Buenos Aires it is also known as the youth day or student day where all students from elementary school to high school will skip classes and go out to parks all across the city to gather with friends and picnic. The celebrations are supported by the local government under the slogan “Welcome spring, enjoy it without alcohol”. [caption id="attachment_5504" align="aligncenter" width="610"]
Spring day in Buenos Aires / Source[/caption] If you’re a tourist on a beautiful Spring day in Buenos Aires and you want to see the Argentinean way to welcome spring, it is recommended to visit the Palermo area, or at least the Palermo woods area, where you will see all sort of celebrations, people relaxing under the trees or in the sun, sporting, singing or just taking a walk around to celebrate the first sunny days in the city. Buenos Aires is well known for its strong cultural life; therefore any special date is always an opportunity to celebrate. So if you don’t mind the hordes of youngsters strolling around the area, you can take advantage of this day and go to a free concert with local bands like Los Cafres, La Mosca, Airbag and many more. It takes places in San Benito Park, located in Avenida Figueroa Alcorta and La Pampa Street. This year’s spring day in Buenos Aires offers excellent weather conditions and a great chance to enjoy the city in a different way: instead of the regular bus tour you could try a tour to Tigre and San Isidro or a walking tour through the Recoleta and Palermo area. Alternatively take a stroll on Sunday in La Costanera Sur in Puerto Madero where you will find also crowds of locals celebrating this spring festival in Buenos Aires. Besides spring day in Buenos Aires and student day, September 21st is also Argentina’s photographer day so you can prepare yourself for the FIBA (Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires), from September 24th to October 8th, which will gather all sort of new artistic expressions in theatre, dance, visual arts and music. So Buenos Aires is getting hot! It is the perfect time to pack your sunblock, a bottle of water, a camera and to go out to catch the electrifying atmosphere on the streets and take your best spring shots of the tango capital.
