Don't worry, the city is hosting the perfect event this week to broaden your knowledge of the local wines. La Semana del Vino - or the Week of Wine - is a celebration of Argentina's wines and it's role in both the culture and gastronomy of the country.

To celebrate this Week of Wine, a large number of restaurants, bars and wine shops are bringing Argentina's wine country to Buenos Aires. For this week, restaurants are offering special wine menus, offering wine by the glass at three different price points, offering something for everyone's budget. The idea is that people can try a wider variety of wines rather than sticking to that tried and tested bottle of Malbec, thus exposing more of the population to the wide variety of the top quality wines Argentina has to offer.

In addition to the new wine menus, there is also a special event on Wednesday, termed "The Greatest Tasting in Argentina." Over 50 participating wine shops and bars will hold a simultaneous wine tasting, following the exact same protocol. Participating shops in Buenos Aires include: The Joaquin Alberdi, Pain et Vin, Alma Terra, Terroir, Vinology, Vinoteca 1912, The Pick Market, Cigar Bistro, Les Choix des Vins and more. Be sure to phone ahead to ensure you secure a place at one of these tastings.

There is also a Wine bar on Tuesday and Thursday night, at Club Verne and Ocho7Ocho, respectively. An evening of entertainment and wine is promised, with DJs, visual art, wine cocktails and wine by the glass.
