A one-week itinerary to spend in Bariloche and its surroundings to see the best of the lake region. First day, arrival at Bariloche airport, the airport is located 15 kilometers from downtown and you can rent a car or take a shuttle service from Bariloche airport to downtown. After arriving and settling in we left to take advantage of the afternoon and do the small circuit, which is the most classic tour of Bariloche, you can do it by car or take the small circuit tour, in this tour you can see the following places:

The civic center of Bariloche, with its cathedral. After that walking a few kilometers along the edge of the lake we arrive at Cerro Campanario, a viewpoint located at an altitude of 1100 meters, from the top you can see one of the most imposing views of the region, several blue lakes, high peaks and many green forests, a magnificent combination. The hill can be climbed by chairlift (10 minutes ascent) or on foot, the climb is not easy but it is worth it, it takes about 45 minutes. After that the road continues along the coast of Nahuel Huapi Lake, arriving at the Llao Llao hotel, one of the most emblematic of Bariloche, from its hill you can see Puerto pañuelo from where the sailings to Puerto Blest and Isla Victoria and the surrounding lakes depart. At the end of the tour you will arrive at the Colonia Suiza, which was the first European settlement in the region. Declared historical patrimony and maintains intact the original characteristics of the time of its foundation (end of the XIX century). There you can see handicrafts and taste tea in one of its special tea houses. For the evening I recommend eating at the Bariloche Yacht Club's bodegón, located at 3100 Bustillo Avenue, excellent food with affordable prices, it is worth recommending that on Friday they have sushi night and on Saturday Mexican food (which I tried and it is exquisite). The restaurant is meters from Lake Nahuel Huapi and you can see the lake at night and see the moon shining over the lake. The popular Andes Crossing in Bariloche is one of the highlights of the Argentine Patagonia / Photo: Daytours4u
The next day you can go to visit Cerro Tronador and the black glacier, a one hour trip from the center of the Patagonian city. Once you enter the national park there is a 40 km gravel road which passes beautiful lakes until you reach the base of Cerro Tronador and the black glacier, there you can take a short hike to a waterfall with icy waters and appreciate the view. On the way back and before leaving the national park you can stop to enjoy an afternoon at the edge of the lake. In the evening I recommend eating at El Mallín, a restaurant located at kilometer 11, very tasty food, we recommend the lamb ravioli and trout crepes. On the third day I recommend taking the navigation to Puerto Blest and the waterfall of the pitchers, is a navigation of an hour and a half by the lake in the arm Blest, at the end you get to make a 45 minute walk to the waterfall of the pitchers and if you want then a walk on the edge of the lake to the hotel Puerto Blest. I highly recommend this hike, it is done through the Valdivian rainforest, unique landscape in this part of the lake, it is totally virgin and the feeling is wonderful. In the evening it is worth walking through the center of Bariloche to taste the famous ice creams like Franui and Mamushka and buy chocolates.San Martín de los Andes, a must-see stop in your visit to Bariloche / Photo: Daytours4u
On the fourth day we leave Bariloche behind and take the road to San Martin de los Andes. To get there you can take two roads, one is the famous road of the seven lakes, which is mandatory to do at least once, the other road goes along the routes RN 40, RN 237 and RN 231 and passes through Junin de los Andes. It is not as impressive as the seven lakes road but it shows a unique Patagonian landscape with several beautiful stops. If you are going back to Bariloche, I recommend doing a road like this and the return via the seven lakes, the road on both routes takes about 4 hours. In San Martin de los Andes I stayed in seasonal cabins, what I liked in this place are 2 things, the first is that it is outside the center of San Martin de los Andes which is somewhat noisy and the second is that they have a stream that runs through the garden of the cabins, which gives the place a different air and very quiet. San Martin is a relatively large tourist town and is full of restaurants, bars and interesting things to see. The next day I went to the little island, a beach a few kilometers from the center, which can be reached by car. It is a quiet beach with white sand (and many rocks) and a few meters away an island where you can swim. Before reaching the beach you can stop at a viewpoint that overlooks the whole town. Following the itinerary in Bariloche and the lake region, the next day we got up and after a delicious homemade breakfast we started our way to the seven lakes to Villa la Angostura and Bariloche. The road is all paved and is full of view points to lakes, waterfalls, forests and more. The scenery is perfect and gives a feeling of joy and thankfulness in the heart. The road passes seven different lakes that most look the same, and honestly at some point you lose track of what you saw and how many lakes are still missing. You can stop at the viewpoints and contemplate the beauties of the Patagonian nature, swim in one of the lakes on hot days or just enjoy the road. Many people do it by bike, it is a two day hike and requires very good physical condition.Don't miss the best winter activities in Bariloche / Photo: Canva Pro
Almost at the end of the road you reach Villa La Angostura, a town on the shores of the last lake on the road, Lake Nahuel Huapi. This town is small and charming and is full of forests, beaches and cabins to stay in. I stayed at Ruma Andina cabins, I really liked the place which is in the middle of the forest and 5 minutes walk from the beach. In Villa la Angostura you can do everything, trails, biking, swimming in the lake and more, I want to mention two walks that I did that I found very nice. Isla Victoria and Arrayanes forest: At the beach of the town is the entrance to the Isla Victoria Peninsula, it is a 12 kilometers walk in virgin forest that at the end is the Arrayanes forest, a type of tree unique to the area. The trip can be done by boat from Villa la Angostura or Bariloche, by bicycle or walking (both require a good physical condition and at least 6 hours available). At the beginning of the trail there are 2 viewpoints worth visiting. Cascada de los Viñicos: It is on the road of seven lakes about 40 kilometers from Villa la Angostura, after an easy 45 minute walk you arrive at a beautiful waterfall where you can bathe (VERY cold water) have a picnic and enjoy nature. If you have time and want to get to know a truly spectacular region to return to your daily life with energy and positivism I recommend spending a few days in Bariloche and the lakes region of Argentina.By: Gilad Shamir, editor for Daytours4u.
