While we already knew that Rio de Janeiro has one of the most beautiful and unique skylines in the world, it has just been confirmed! USA TODAY and 10Best recently ran a Reader's Choice competition to find the Best International Skyline ... and Rio was voted number 3!

While Rio beat out stiff competition from iconic cityscapes like New York, Hong Kong, Paris and London, it didn't manage to top the list, with Dallas snagging first place. In our eyes, though, Rio will always be number one. There is nothing in the world quite like it, with its iconic Sugar Loaf Mountain, lush green hills, beautiful blue bay and pristine beaches, not to mention the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer keeping a watchful eye on the city from atop Corcovado.

The combination of man-made and natural wonders, juxtaposed against each other make for a breathtaking setting. Appreciate the incredible views of Rio de Janeiro from a number of spots in the city. The best vantage point is undoubtedly Corcovado Hill. Another great spot to take in the city views is from the beach. While Rio's has plenty of beaches to choose from, Ipanema is a good option if you're looking for great views and an amazing beach. And if you're feeling a bit more adventurous, why not hike up Pedra de Gavea? It's challenging but the view from the top is well worth the effort of getting there!
