Necochea is undoubtedly a destination that brings together in one place entertainment for adults and children. This city, located in the south of the province of Buenos Aires and a little more than 500km from the capital of the country, can be easily reached by car in 6 hours. There are also several bus companies that bring us from the main cities. Here you will find a family atmosphere, where each member will have many options to have fun during their stay.

Its main attraction is its beaches! Huge, wide, with room for everyone. With a width that reaches up to 300 meters and extend along 70km. One of the longest in the country. The main ones go from the Port, passing through the center to the Wind Park. We will find private bathing resorts with services such as tents, swimming pools, volleyball and soccer fields, changing rooms, restaurant and parking lots. And the public ones are located next to those mentioned, in front of the sea. Owner of dreamed sunrises and sunsets. In the summer season it gets dark around 8.30 pm. This allows you to enjoy the day at the beach until late. The reddish tones that can be perceived from the sand, makes it inevitable to stay until the last ray of sunshine. With the company of the mates, filled churros, the chats between friends, the games of shuffleboard and other activities that we can enjoy. The water temperature here is higher than the average of other destinations in Argentina such as Mar del Plata or San Bernardo. This means that those who suffer from the cold have no impediment to get into the sea. On the other side of the port and separated by the Quequén River we have the city that bears the same name, Quequén. It is joined to Necochea by the Dardo Rocha Bridge and the Hanging Bridge which is one of the postcards of the city. There the rhythm is much calmer. Its beaches are more deserted and we can enjoy the landscape and its rock formations in solitude. When the tide is not too high you can even see the remains of a ship that wrecked off its shores. A place worth visiting is the Bahía de los Vientos (Bay of the Winds). Where the beach is more rugged and from its coastal avenue we enjoy the scenery that surrounds us.
Swan Lake is one of the many attractions you will be able to visit / Photo: Gonzalo Ramirez
When we ask ourselves why visit Necochea, we will see what makes it so special. The list of activities to do is almost endless. Let's start with one of the best known.  Lillo Park. In its 640 hectares of green space we can find trails for walking, jogging, cycling. There are areas for bonfires, gastronomic places to have lunch or enjoy an afternoon snack in the middle of the forest. There is an amphitheater and the Museum of Natural Sciences. There is also an activity loved by children. The little train of the park. A small train, with 3 cars, which makes a 30-minute tour inside the park and entertains the whole family. Another highlight is the Swan Lake. A place that you can enter free of charge and inside you can feed the swans and ducks that live there. You can rent pedal boats to navigate the lake. There is a zip line, food shops and a sector that looks like a mini zoo where there are goats, peacocks, rheas and other animals. You can take a guided tour of the main points of this green space. The tourism sector of the Municipality of Necochea organizes them and it is very interesting. Something important to enjoy the tour is to bring water, comfortable clothes and mosquito repellent. We can not overlook another highlight of the city. The port! It can be divided into 2 parts. The breakwater (known by the locals as the "Esco"), where at the beginning of it we will be able to see a colony of sea lions in their natural habitat. Then walking along the breakwater, we will see the entrance and exit of boats and we will have a front view of the city and the beach that is worth enjoying.  If you come in the late afternoon, you will enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets you have ever seen. Don't forget to bring something delicious to enjoy that moment. At the end of the breakwater there is a beautiful mural dedicated to the fishermen. Here you can see how the Quequén River meets the sea!

The other part of this place worth enjoying is the Puerto Gardella Promenade. It is totally recommended for those cloudy days when going to the beach is not the best plan. Or to go late at night. Here we have FoodTruck and Containers with food places. The interesting thing is that they do not compete with each other. Each one offers a different type of food. All of them attract attention. Including several that offer coffee with the delicious handmade alfajores of the area. At night there are 2 streets that can not be missed. The pedestrian streets 83 and 85. Here you will find the largest offer of places to go to eat, to buy souvenirs of the trip, video games for children, the famous ice cream parlors with creamy tastes for those hot days. At the same time, we have the Plaza San Martin where the artisan fair is and many shows for free. From circus, humor to live music.  If you like to delve into the history of the cities, at the intersection of 59th and 58th Avenues is the Dardo Rocha Square where the "Historical Center" is concentrated. There we will find the Municipality, the headquarters of the Correo Argentino, Banco Nación and the Monument to General Necochea. Leaving all the downtown activities, we have several alternatives to enjoy.  Las Grutas, are the southern beaches that are just a few minutes away by car and its natural beauty can be enjoyed from the sand itself or leaving the car on the side of Av 2 and seeing from the height the caves formed by the grooves made by the water in the rocks.

A few minutes later we found the Wind Park. That beyond its function of "clean" energy generated for the city, gives us a beautiful postcard when we have it on the horizon and the sun begins to fall in the late afternoon. On the opposite side, if we cross the bridge to the neighboring city, we have the Quequén lighthouse. It has been in activity since 1921. It has a height of 33 meters and from its highest point you have a unique view of the place. If you like to enjoy outdoor activities, another excellent option is Las Cascadas. They are located 16 km from downtown. There you can kayak, fish and organize a picnic sitting under the trees listening to the sound of the water and distant from any crowd. This summary of the city is just a part of everything you can experience while being there. It is a destination to enjoy a natural environment with the comforts of a city. We will be delighted with the delights of its restaurants that offer paellas, seafood casseroles, rice with squid and other options that have as star, the fruits of the sea. Strolling along its waterfront avenue with carefree chats. Touring it by bicycle. Get up early to see the sunrise over the sea. Laughing until your belly hurts at the open-air comedy shows. Beach, sun and forest. Three options that are equally available in Necochea. What could be nicer than spending a few days enjoying them?
