Argentines are big lovers of their local asado, as we have seen in our previous BsAs4U post. But an Argentine asado can’t reach its perfection without a good wine, and as we know, this beautiful country’s inhabitants are experts in the production of this delicious beverage, especially in the region of Patagonia! So if you’re visiting Argentina this winter, one thing you must absolutely do is try some Patagonian wine!

Patagonian Wine

Located in the southern end of Argentina, Patagonia is perfect for the growing of vineyards, with its dry air and very scarce precipitation. Even though Patagonia’s climate is mostly cold, it is compensated by a warm and dry wind called ‘la Zonda’, which lessens the risk of vine disease. All of this, alongside the obsessive and extreme care of their makers, creates delicious wines, red and white, intense in color and authentic in taste. The wines produced in these areas are known as cold area wines, which include a variety of big names. Important Patagonian white wines include Torrontes, Pedro Ximenez, Semillón, Sauvignon, and Chenin Blanc; and the reds include Malbec, Merlot, Syrah, the Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Bonarda. If you are looking to try some Patagonian wine during your travels to Argentina, Argentina4U and BsAs4U offer a variety of wine tasting tours in which you will be able to try out some of Argentina’s best Patagonian wine!
