Great news: Carnival officially ended on Ash Wednesday, but the last days Carnival in Rio de Janeiro mean the party hasn't stopped yet. Of course, there are less Carnival blocks, but the cariocas always hesitate on going back to the real life – especially because it is said that the year only starts in Brazil after Carnival. So, we suggest for those of you who are on a trip to Rio to enjoy the last days of partying on the streets and at the Sambódromo.
If you'll still be in Rio on Saturday after Carnival (February 16th), buy a ticket to watch the Champion’s Samba Schools parade. After parading officially on Sunday and Monday, and being ranked by a committee of judges, the 5 winners come back to the Sambódromo to perform again. It's a nice opportunity for those who couldn't buy tickets to the main event or who were not at Rio at the time. There's even a possibility for you to buy a Carnival dressing and parade with them! Another great option is to catch the last days of Carnival blocks of the season. The most famous one after the official holiday is Monobloco. This year, it'll parade downtown on Sunday, February 17th. The performance starts at the corner of Av. Presidente Vargas and Av. Rio Branco at 9 am.
