Renowned for its sensual tango culture, Belle Époque era cafes, and a rich European-styled architectural heritage, Buenos Aires can now also proudly claim to be the best gay destination in Latin America, as voted for by leaders at the 2016 LGBT Tourism Conference.

It comes as no surprise to a city that was the first in South America to establish a law that gives gay couples the same rights and social benefits as those afforded to heterosexual partners. The Argentine capital has long been considered the most welcoming and open-minded city on the continent, largely due to the variety of events and programmes tailored to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community, and the progressive social awareness of its citizens.

Tango Pride

Tango Pride – the first gay tango show in Buenos Aires – takes place every Wednesday in a quaint bar in the Almagro neighbourhood: the tango heart of the city. This vibrant and innovative spectacle tells the story of tango and its role in society, but it dares to recount history with a unique narrative, featuring gay and lesbian characters (dancers) who battle with conservative beliefs before finally giving in to their passions and desires.

Wednesdays, 8pm. For further information and ticket booking, consult with bsas4u.

Milonga Queer

The show Milonga Queer is ideal for those who want to learn how to dance to the rhythm of tango. Freely choose your dance partner, try to keep pace with the sensual music, and uncover, through dance, new ways of communication.

Tuesdays, 10pm. Free admission to the public San Telmo - Av Peru 571.
