The Don Silvano Ranch is located in the town of Capilla del Señor, approximately 85km from Buenos Aires. After being picked up from downtown in the morning, you’ll be transported to the ranch in a large, comfortable bus with the journey taking roughly one hour. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by one of the gauchos and offered a tasty traditional empanada with your choice of wine, water or a fizzy drink. The empanadas are truly delicious, and the best part is you get the opportunity to watch how they’re made, so you can go home and prepare them yourself!

At this beautiful ranch, you will find not only horses and cows but pigs, donkeys, llamas and peacocks. There is a mini excursion on horseback, suitable for tourists of all ages and abilities, as well as the option to ride in a horse drawn carriage or on the back of a tractor, which is a popular choice amongst kids. The major difference between Don Silvano and other ranches is that you can spend the night there in one of their comfortable bedrooms, complete with a private bathroom and access to their games room and swimming pool, which is exclusive to overnight guests. This came about after Silvano, the Italian immigrant who founded the ranch back in the mid 1900's, began receiving requests from friends who wished to spend more than just one day in this peaceful, natural setting, spurring him to build two extra bedrooms. Nowadays, there are twenty-five rooms at Don Silvano and space for seventy people.

For lunch at the ranch, you'll have the opportunity to try a tasty, authentic Argentine asado. As well as fine cuts of meat, you can eat bread, salad and salsas as part of the asado, accompanied by wine and your choice of soft drinks, followed by a mouthwatering flan. Throughout the meal, there are Folkloric dance performances by professional dancers, then afterwards you get given a mini tango lesson, which is a lot of fun and a good way to bond with fellow travellers. There is also a singer, who entertains the crowd by singing songs from each of their respective countries. The show of gaucho skills, which takes place outdoors after lunch, is also highly entertaining, as the gauchos demonstrate some very impressive skills and funny tricks along with their horses.
