1) San Bernardino

San Bernardino is quite close to Asunción, about 40 km away. One of its main attractions is Ypacaraí Lake, around which European immigrants made a life at the end of the 19th century. You can take a boat ride on the waters of the lake, a fascinating journey during which you will be able to observe the natural majesty of the place. Nearby you will find a wide range of outdoor activities to do, such as bike rides, skating along the bike path, and strolling through its pedestrian streets. Travel tip: One of the places you can't miss once you get there is the Yvy Marane`y bird observatory, which translates as "The land of no evil". It is located on the side of the Salado River next to the slope of the lake. From there you can observe some of the 267 species of birds that live in this important ecosystem.

2) Itacurubí

Better known as "The Garden of the Republic", Itacurubí is a rural town ideal for connecting with nature. Even its urban areas are full of flowers and patches of forest - a beauty! It is located about 100 km away from Asunción, so you can reach your destination in just over an hour. It is an ideal place to rest, as well as to change the routine, doing outdoor activities. Among the places to visit are the Yhaguy stream, an ideal place to go in summer to cool off from the high temperatures. But the real adventure you get in the Ecological and Tourist Park Ita Coty. It is the ideal place to give your children the experience of camping and connecting with wildlife. At the same time they can participate in various activities such as zip-lining, tree climbing, hiking the trails of the park and playing sports. 3) El Salto Monday

Although it is not a well-known place, it is currently one of the most demanded beauties by visitors in Paraguay. It is located in the city of Presidente Franco. The site has created an adequate infrastructure for visitors to enjoy a visit to the interior of the jungle. The waterfalls are 40 meters high, being one of the main natural beauties of the country. So it has platforms to enjoy its spectacular panoramic view. Travel tip: Eco-adventures such as archery, rappel, zip line sliding, rafting and arborism take place here. They also offer amenities such as convenient bus access, dining and cultural events.

4) The beaches of Encarnación in the department of Itapúa

In the capital of Itapúa you can have fun during spring and summer, bathing among the waves of the beaches of Encarnación. The best beaches to visit are Mbói Caé, Pacú Cua and the most famous, San José beach. Outdoor activities, as well as having a vibrant time on the beach are its main attractions. Also, the sunsets are of unparalleled beauty. While in Encarnación you can visit the El Dorado Aquatic and Ecological Park, ideal for the whole family.

5) Lake Ojo del Mar, Bella Vista Norte, Amambay

Ojo de Mar is the name given to this mysterious place in Paraguay that has become famous in the last decade. Geologically, it could be a cenote or some kind of lake with subway tributaries. It is considered a true paradise! In fact, it is said that the lake originated after a volcanic eruption surrounded by lush subtropical vegetation. According to comments from the locals, the depth of this natural lake with crystalline water but of medium-greenish coloration is unknown. They have already thrown more than 100 meters of loops into the lake without reaching the bottom, it has a dimension of about 100 meters in diameter with a permanent flow at any time of the year.

The Vallemi Caves

The Vallemi caves are formed by limestone rock, the result of the accumulation of sediments, bones and shells of marine animals of all kinds. These deposits were gradually compacted over millions of years. The place offers four rock formations that can be visited by tourists and great adventurers. The 14 de Julio cavern stands out among them, which has a very accessible location and can be explored by children and senior citizens. It is a recommended tour for all those who enjoy ecological tourism.
