Itinerary

This Walking Tour through Paraty’s historical center is a different kind of tour that will take you back to Brazil's colonial past. Paraty is a perfectly preserved Portuguese colonial and imperial village, an open-air museum in a tropical paradise, considered a National Historic Monument and a candidate to become a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Located in the Bay of Isla Grande, next to the Brazil Costa Verde in Rio de Janeiro, it has charming cobbled streets open only for bicycles and pedestrians. It was founded in 1667 and stands out for its beauty and harmonic architecture dating back to the eighteenth century. Since its inception the city attracted conquistadors, officials, Indians, slaves, missionaries and pirates, who came here attracted by the gold and the sugar cane fever.

The Walking Tour through Paraty’s historical center is led by an accredited guide who will be in charge of transporting you to the colonial past of Brazil visiting its most emblematic places, while narrating the stories and legends that remain in the memory of its inhabitants and are a fundamental part of their culture.

During the tour you will visit the Plaza de la Matriz, the Church of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, around which the city was built, the characteristic Baroque style of the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, the Chapel of Santa Rita, the Lady of Rosario and Saint Benedict Church, historical houses and old buildings marked with a strong Masonic influence, the House of Culture, museums and important historical monuments, while you enjoy the enigmatic and beautiful stories of their past.

Book this Walking Tour through Paraty’s historical center and travel back in time through the historic and very well preserved streets of this colonial city, while you stop at a museum to enjoy its beautiful stories and finally have a drink at one of its most picturesque cafes. A unique and very special visit in the surroundings of Rio de Janeiro. Book now!
