Itinerary Description

Hotel Pickup

We start our tour early in the morning, picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. From here, we will head to the South Valley of Cusco, a journey that will take us through impressive Andean landscapes as we approach our first stop.

First Stop: Tipón

27 kilometers southeast of Cusco, we arrive at the archaeological center of Tipón. This site, known as the "Temple of Water", is famous for its 12 impressive agricultural terraces and advanced hydraulic engineering, which is still functioning and continues to irrigate the crops. Tipón is part of the Inca road network and covers an area of 240 hectares, with an average altitude of 3,316 meters above sea level. During our visit, you will learn about the agricultural and water management techniques developed by the Incas, demonstrating their ingenuity and ability to work with nature.

Second Stop: Pikillacta

Our next stop is at the archaeological park of Pikillacta, located 30 kilometers from Cusco, near the town of Huacarpay. Pikillacta, which in Quechua means "small town", is a testament to the legacy of the Wari culture, which flourished between the 6th and 9th centuries. This well-planned pre-Inca urban center covers 50 hectares and is situated at an altitude of 3,250 meters above sea level. Here, you can explore the ruins of a sophisticated urban complex, with streets, plazas, and multi-story buildings, and learn about the Wari influence in the region before the rise of the Inca Empire.

Third Stop: Andahuaylillas

Continuing our tour, we arrive at the picturesque town of Andahuaylillas, where we will visit the famous Church of San Pedro Apóstol, known as the "Sistine Chapel of America". Built in the 16th century, this church is a jewel of Peruvian colonial art. Its Renaissance exterior contrasts with a spectacular Baroque interior, decorated with gold leaf, Cusco school paintings, and murals by the Peruvian painter Luis de Riaño. The Church of Andahuaylillas is a place that will leave you amazed by its artistic richness and spiritual atmosphere.

Return to Cusco

After a day full of discoveries and learning, we will return to Cusco, dropping you off back at your hotel.

Dedicate half a day to visit three important archaeological complexes: Tipon, the center of Pikillacta, and the church of Andahuaylillas!
