Puno is located in the cold highlands at 4000 m.a.s.l. and is known as "The land of camelids". It is considered the Folkloric Capital of America, thanks to its 300 typical dances.
The Tour
- This classic City Tour of Puno begins when you are picked up at your hotel for a panoramic visit of the city of Puno.
- You will start your tour by the urban viewpoints of Huajsapata, Kunturwasi and Puma Uta. Then, you will visit the churches of the city, which reflect the importance of this region during the evangelization and the development of the colony.
- You will visit the local market, where you can get from typical food to objects characteristic of the popular beliefs and everyday aspects of the city of Puno. From there, we will go to the handicraft market of the port of Puno.
- To end this half-day Classic City Tour, you will visit the Carlos Dreyer Museum, which houses a fascinating collection of archaeological artifacts, gold pieces and lithic carvings related to Puno from the pre-Inca, Inca, colonial and Republic periods. At the top are three mummies and a large-scale fiberglass chullpa (funerary tower).
