Itinerary
With this Mendoza Atuel Canyon Tour you will spend a day exploring the beautiful nature surrounding one of Mendoza’s top attractions. Discover the wonderful landscapes of the Atuel river and the Atuel Canyon, ancient ruins and the impressive Dams of the Mendoza wine region.
The Cañón del Atuel day tour will begin travelling south from the city of Mendoza, sightseeing Mendoza’s beautiful variations of natural landscapes along the way. This Mendoza full day tour will visit Villa 25 de Mayo, the original founding site of Fort San Rafael city and now a National Monument, making it a great Mendoza tourist attraction offering a wonderful insight into Argentinean adobe villages of the 19th Century.
You will then continue the Atuel Canyon Tour, visiting the Nihuil Dam and Reservoir; 9600 hectares of incredible natural landscapes that are extremely popular with nature lovers, fishing, hiking and water sports enthusiasts. The Cañón del Atuel tour will then pass through the narrow ravine of the Atuel Canyon, where you can sightsee wonderful natural sculptures in the canyon’s embankments and colourful rockfaces. The tour then continues along the Atuel river until the Valle Grande Dam, an area of incomparable beauty where you can relax and enjoy lunch, before heading to the last destination, the city of San Rafael, where you can take an optional rafting activity, before return to your hotel in Mendoza city.
